David Hayes is the Director of Music Ministries at Wilderness. David began attending Wilderness in 2001, and joined the music team shortly thereafter.He came on staff in the spring of 2004. David has a B.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern Mississippi. David holds a full-time position as a Senior Computer Scientist with Computer Sciences Corporation.

David grew up in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where his parents still live.His love for music began at an early age.  His father is a retired Baptist Minister of Music, and has had a huge impact on David's passion for music.This love of music, coupled with David's desire to see people drawn into a closer relationship with God, inspired David to join the music team, and ultimately, to take on the position of Director of Music Ministries. David is committed to helping others experience authentic worship of God through music.

David has been involved with a variety of musical groups, including large choirs, gospel quartets, contemporary praise ensembles, Christian contemporary/Praise & Worship bands, and orchestras (trombone), to name a few. David has also participated in a variety of church drama productions.

In May of 2008, David proposed to Cindy.  She agreed to marry him, and on November 22, 2008, David and Cindy were wed at Wilderness Community Church. Together, they have four teenage daughters, Katie (18), Hannah (16), Emily (16), and Bethany (13), and a beautiful Sheltie name Shelby.  They now reside in Spotsylvania County.
