Soul Cafe Studies Presents Great Oppotunities |
Each Wednesday evening, as part of our Soul Café Experience, we offer three small groups that provide you with an opportunity to engage God’s word in practical ways and enjoy some great fellowship with others who are also pursuing God. Here are our current offerings:
Family Matters - This group focuses on how to enhance family life, including marriages and parenting. On September 1 and 8 the focus will be on Momentum for Life and Principles for Drawing Couples Closer Together. Sept. 15th we will begin a new study entitled Love at Last Sight, this is a 30 day study to grow and deepen your closet relationships whether it is your spouse, friend or other family member. We would like to order books by Sept. 10th, if you are interested in growing healthier relationships with those you are closest too indicate “Family Matters” on your Welcome Card and we will ensure you a book.
Biblical Justice Study - This group meets weekly and is currently using the book Everyday Justice: The Global Impact Of Our Daily Choices as a backdrop for their discussions as they learn how to be more ethical consumers based on Biblical mandates for justice. The book has a strong reliance on the Bible for supporting its recommendations. This group meets every other week with its next meeting being held on September 1.
Ten Commandments Study - This group meets every other week, using the book Words From The Fire: Hearing The Voice Of God In The Ten Commandments. You can order the book through the church office at a cost of $9.20. You can pay for your book when it is received. The group next meets on Wednesday, September 8.
Romans Study - Have you ever wanted to engage in in-depth Bible study and learn the tools for doing so? Have you desired to explore the themes in one of the most influential and theological books in the Bible? Then this study is for you. Pastor Keith leads this study as we move section by section through the Book of Romans each Wednesday evening.

Fall 2010 Small Group Opportunities |
|
At Wilderness Community Church, we encourage each adult attending our church to be part of a small group. Small groups are the place to get to know a few other people in our church family well, to become part of a supportive community, to go deeper into God's word, to receive prayer support and encouragement, and to explore how God would apply His word in your life as you encounter it. You can begin a small group or stop a small group at any time. Most of the small groups listed below meet on an ongoing basis and are open to new participants at any time.
The Fall brings all kinds of change to our lives. Why not make becoming part of a small group be a priority as you decide where you are going to invest your time during the coming months! You deserve to invest in yourself -- for the good of God's kingdom!

Did you know that there is a group in our church which knits or crochets prayer shawls which are then delivered by Pastor Keith to persons within our church family and in the community generally who are going through adversity? As the shawl is made, the person who makes it prayers over each part of the shawl. The shawl is bathed in prayer once it is completed. When Pastor Keith delivers the shawl to an individual, it is accompanied by a card which tells the story of the shawl and which assures the person of our continued prayers for them as they journey through whatever they are facing.
Those individuals who are currently involved in our Prayer Shawl ministry, plus any who would like to find out more, are invited to meet for a time of fellowship and encouragement following the 10:30 a.m. Celebration Service on September 5th. For more information, contact Janet Humphrey (907-1904).

Fall Food & Clothing Give-Away |
|
Wilderness Outreach Missions (WOM) will be holding its Fall Food & Clothing Give-Away on Saturday, September 11, from 9:00 to Noon here at the church. WOM is looking for servants from our church family to assist in setup on Friday evening, staffing the event during those hours on Saturday, and cleaning up following the event on Saturday afternoon.
WOM is asking you to help us serve our neighbors who are struggling by contributing:
- Fall and winter clothing for men, women and children that is either new or gently used. (Bags of clothes presorted and marked by size and gender is greatly appreciated.)
- Non-perishable food items
Since these events typically feed more than 80 families, we are asking you to fill at least one bag per family with non-perishable food items. Bags are available in the Welcome Center following our Celebration Services this morning. A list of items to purchase will be included in each bag. WOM will be collecting the filled bags from August 22nd - September 5th. If you would like to make a donation towards the purchase of food you may do so and indicate “WOM Food Drive” on your check or offering envelope! For more information, please contact Jeff Hancock, 604-6979. |
