Membership (commitment to Jesus Christ and to a church family) and Maturity (commitment to spiritual disciplines that will help each of us become more like Jesus Christ) are the foundation for Ministry. A vital, thriving ministry is a result of a vital, thriving relationship with Jesus Christ and with a church community. In Ephesians 4:11-12, Paul writes, "He is the one who gave these gifts to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ." We believe that every member is a minister -- that every person is shaped for a purpose. At Wilderness, we help you discover your SHAPE (spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality, and experiences) and then we assist you in plugging into an existing ministry or creating a new one as the Holy Spirit leads. Once you have identified your SHAPE, you can better understand your ministry. Lay ministers are resourced, trained, equipped, and supported throughout the body of Wilderness. Wilderness Community Church has many lay ministry teams. To find out more about opportunities to serve in lay ministry, contact
